Nativity

Every year my family acts out the Nativity on Christmas Eve to help us focus on Christ during the Christmas celebrations.
Here is the whole crew in our costumes. We always take a picture at the end, when everyone is in position. Dan was the narrator so he got to be the camera man with no costume. My solution to keeping Emma's art

Emma loves to do art. They make lots of art at school and she makes her own art at home. This results in every parents dilemma of what art to keep. Of course Emma wants to keep everything. I am a purger and I want to keep as little as possible, but I start feeling bad. My solution...I am taking pictures of Emma with her art. This was I can look back and see what she did and how old she was, without crates of ... art. We took about 100 pictures the first day going through everything I have collected this year. These are my favorite shots.

This is an example of something I really want to keep. Look at her little finger prints! Why does it have to be so big?

Emma's Preschool Christmas Party

Emma was so excited to go to school today for her Christmas Party. Preschool Party roughly translates to sugary snack and a goody bag. It doesn't take much to motivate a 3 year old. She had to wear her "Emma's 2" birthday hat. Her teachers loved it!

I have to say I absolutely love Emma's teachers this year. I am so grateful to everyone who recommended we attend Winder First United Methodist Preschool. It has been a great fit for us and we love it there.

Georgia's first day of school

Lake Lanier Nights of Lights

I really like the Lake Lanier Nights of Lights. However, the price has gotten outrageous and they haven't added any new lights in years! This will probably be our last year. Obviously the girl's favorite part was Santa. Emma loves Santa. Georgia is getting close. She loves to see Santa, but she is hesitant to let him hold her.Here are my pretty girls. Trying to get them to look in the same direction and smile at the same time is impossible.

We started a new Christmas tradition this year. I wrapped Christmas books and put them under the tree. Every night the girls pick a present to open and that is the book we read before bed. It was really fun and gave the girls something to look forward to every day. Here is Emma under the tree carefully selecting this evening's book.

Georgia loves to dress up. She has been putting on necklaces on since she was 8-months-old! She has been trying to wear dress up shoes. She can get them on, but she can't walk in them. Recently she discovered that she can just wear one shoe and still get around. She is so proud!

Fantastic Friday

We had a great time playing at Bishop Park's Gymnastics Gym. Emma had to wear her ballet outfit because she wanted to look like her cousin Ireland who competes at gymnastics. She was so busy running around, this is the only picture I got of her.
Georgia just started sliding by herself so she loved this part of the gym.
This is the first time she has been to Fantastic Friday and she had a blast.
Can you tell she liked jumping on the trampoline? She really wants to be able to jump on the ground, but she can't break gravity yet. So she loves anything that makes her bouncy.

Yea! My baby is 18-months-old! So of course we had a photo shoot. Here she is with Sanford.
I had a hard time getting her to look at me, so I put her Christmas present (the little chair she is in) in her room. She got so excited, I could barely get her out of the chair. Then I hid it because it is really for Christmas. When I put her to bed, she kept looking for the chair. It was so cute.

She loves to wrestle with daddy. Anytime Emma is playing rough with Dad, she runs over and body slams them. It is pretty funny!

New calling

My family came to church with us today because I got a new calling. Primary President. I am really excited to work with the kids and all the Primary adults. I am worried because I have never done this before. I am hopeful because I know the Lord will bless me and my family.
We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We don't have any paid clergy, so members of the congregation do the work that keeps the church running. The Primary President is responsible for children 18 months to 12 years old. During the second and third hour of church, the children have class time, music time, etc.
I attended Primary as a child and I have a testimony of the positive influence it can have on a child. I learned about Jesus and came to know him as my Savior. I learned how to be like Him and to follow the commandments. I am grateful for the time I spent in Primary as a child and I hope I can help the kids in my ward feel the same way. I pray that God will lead me to be able to bless the children I serve and help them grow testimonies of their own.

Emma's school had a Christmas Festival with a $5 5x7 picture with Santa. So we gave it a shot..
Emma loves Santa!Luckily, they also let us take our own pictures. Come to find out, the colors are weird on the one we bought. Unfortunately we have a temperamental camera and the picture with both girls is blurry! Georgia was scared. She clung to my neck, trying not to let me give her to him. But instead of crying when I handed her over, she just held her breath! Not too shabby!

As always, having fun at a Bball game...Emma is constantly searching for Harry Dawg and Spike so she can hug them, talk to them and take a picture with them. After this picture Harry threw her in the air like a cheerleader, she loved it! My brother, Jeremy, and sister, Emily, came to the game with us. Mommy and Emma, our seats are so awesome! 1st Georgia Men's Bball game

We took the girls to the first game of the season. Emma loves Spike!
Georgia did really well sitting in her booster seat. She had milk and popcorn to keep her occupied.

I tried to get Georgia to say hi to Harry Dawg and this is the result. She was terrified of both Spike and Harry Dawg. Even when she noticed them far away from her she was scared.

Happy Halloween

We had a fun Halloween. Emma flew around the house with her Thumbelina costume on.
Georgia waddled in her duck costume, but she wouldn't quack because she is shy.
Her hat fell off and she put it back on herself. It was so cute.
We went trick-or-treating with some friends. Georgia and Cori rode in the stroller.

Next year we will be walking. The kids were so lazy. After a few houses of leaving our transportation at the end of the driveway, they started wanting us to drive them to the door! I have to say I was really disappointed in my neighborhood this year. Some home are empty, but there were several homes in a row with no one home and come to find out they were all having a party down the street, but only one of them was giving out candy. You know all 10 of their combined kids were out getting candy. That is not right.

Winder Ward Truck-or-Treat

I love church Halloween parties. The kids get lots of candy and I don't feel the need to microscopically examine them for danger. Georgia was a duck this year. She loved her costume. Every time she saw it she wanted to put it on. It is the same costume E wore at that age. Both of them have been in love with ducks and the first animal sound they both made was "quack!"
Emma was Thumbellina. I got her costume on sale at Walmart and she earned it by doing chores around the house. We did learn that princess shoes are not Halloween friendly. If you noticed the bump on her head, she did that just before the party. We picked up my niece, Ireland, from gymnastics practice. While we were waiting for her, E decided to try some moves on the concrete waiting room floor. Her handstand turned into a head plant. Poor baby, that had to hurt.
The girls: G, Ireland, and E so excited to get candy and to have Ireland with them. They adore her. It is so precious. Ireland looks great in her pirate costume.

Pumpkin Time

Every body was very excited to carve our pumpkin this year. Once we got started, Emma decided cleaning out the inside was too gross for her. Can you tell by the look on her face? Georgia on the other hand really enjoyed it.

Emma picked a design and daddy carved it out for us. It was a lot more work than we thought it would be.
But the results were worth it. Have you ever seen a better looking pumpkin.

Emma's 1st Dance recital

Emma's tap/ballet class had their first "recital" at the business fair in Winder, GA. Here is Emma with her friend from school Abby.
There are over 30 kids in the two 3/4-year-old classes, but only 10 showed up. Lucky us! E is fourth from the left.
We bought E a flower on the way, but surprised her with it after her performance. She was acting shy here, but she was great on stage. She stared out into the crowed and smiled. She tried to do the dance, but most of the time she just smiled. It was precious. Yea Emma!

Pants

Emma (3-years-old) wearing Georgia's size 18 months jeans. For people who don't speak kid sizes that translates to "this should fit a child between the ages of 12 & 18 months.Who knew that when she told me she was trying on Georgia's pants, they would actually fit. On the way to bed she told me she would be wearing GA's pants tomorrow. I guess they will be fighting over clothes earlier than I expected.

Pumpkin Patch

Took the girls to Washington Farms in Watkinsville, GA again this year. I really love all of the activities and they always have a great selection of pumpkins. Trying to get them to look in the same direction and smile at the same time is impossible!

Georgia made a new friend walking back with our pumpkin. I couldn't hold her hand because the pumpkin was so heavy, so she found someone else who was willing to do it.
After we bought the pumpkin we found a wheel barrow. They look tired. Surprisingly is was easier to carry it and both girls in the wheel barrow than to let them walk beside me.

Emma's first field trip

Emma's class took a field trip to Fort Yargo in Winder, GA. She was so excited. She was really looking forward to riding on the bus. Unfortunately since she is in preschool, they don't really have buses. So she had to ride in the car with mom. This is before she started crying because we waited in the parking lot for the other kids to arrive.
The park rangers took us on a hay ride and a nature walk. We also ran around at the play ground and had a snack. It was a great first field trip.

Nashville, TN

Dan and I went to Nashville, TN with friends to see the GA vs. Vanderbilt football game. It is so nice to have adult time!
Yea! The Dawgs won! Can you tell it was cold?
After the game we visited the Parthenon replica. It is so beautiful. I would love to see the original.
We ate dinner at our favorite restaurant, The Stockyard. Honestly the best steak you have ever had. Everything else is good too and the service is excellent. That night we walked around downtown. Had a photo shoot with Elvis!
On the way home we stopped at Ruby Falls.
It is amazingly beautiful.
Whenever we go out of town we bring a surprise home for the girls. This time they got cowgirl outfits. They are so cute!

Imaginations at play

Emma begs me on a regular basis to go to Imaginations at Play. It is a kids museum in our area that has tons to do and is relatively inexpensive. Today was Georgia's first visit since she learned to walk, so she really had a blast today. We met up with some friends to double the fun. Big girls playing in the sand.

Unfortunately one of my rules was tested on this visit. When Emma was potty training she treated pull-ups like diapers so we couldn't use them. Which means we went on outings in panties. Every potty training parent's nightmare. So my rule was, if you have an accident we go home. To have fun you have to stay dry. Emma had an accident today. She hasn't had one in MONTHS so it really took me by surprise. She was playing and she looks at me in panic and says, "Mom, I had an accident." These days that means there is one drop of tinkle in her pants, but not today. I walk over and she is standing in huge puddle of tinkle! I was horrified. Of course when I told her this means we have to go home she through a world record tantrum. But I stuck to my rule and I was so proud of myself. Since then Emma has helped me remember to have her go potty when we arrive somewhere so she won't have to interrupt her fun to go potty and she even helps me remember to have to go again before we leave. Yea, mission accomplished.

This is reason for my lack of blogging. I have a camera full of pictures missing so I waited thinking the camera would turn up. The last time I know we had it was at the sunflower festival on 4th of July. I have called everywhere we have been since then, but no luck. We have an amazing grandma in Spokane that likes to send us presents. The girls love opening packages!
Today Emma got clay that you build and bake into erasers. Supper fun!
Georgia got the cutest shirt! I love it. She wears it as often as I can wash it!
First we built a tower with the clay then we made flowers and shapes.
Of course Georgia wanted to play too, so we gave her play dough. This was her first time after she tried to eat it 3 times, mommy was done!

Braselton Fall Festival

We took the girls to the Braselton Fall Festival. It was so HOT! Both girls loved the scarecrows. Emma wanted to take her picture with all of them and Georgia wanted to give them all hugs.I was surprised how many vendors they had. Although way too many of them were selling food. We were hoping to find Papi's Fried Pies that we had at Winder First United Methodist Church Fall Festival, but they weren't there. We tired someone else's and they were not good at all! My other complaint is that the children's activities were overpriced and some of the bouncing houses were deflating while the kids jumped. That being said, we had a great time together and that is what really counts

Since Georgia didn't walk until 15 months, she got to sit in the stroller while Emma played. Today was the first time we went to the park since she learned to walk, so this was her first time playing at the park.

Disney World

We took Emma on a cheep quick trip to Disney world. Georgia stayed with my mom, thank you mama. We drove to Orlando on Tuesday and went to Downtown Disney that night. We ate at Rainforest Cafe. Emma loved finding all of the animals, but she wasn't sure about the rain storms.

After dinner we looked at a few stores. It was raining. Emma's favorite was the Disney stores.
Wednesday we went to Magic Kingdom. It took forever to get there from our hotel that was 2 miles away!
Emma was so excited to see the Princesses. She really wanted to go inside Cinderella's castle. Now when she looks at our pictures from the trip she says, "You can't go up in the castle, you can only go under it."
Our first ride was Dumbo. Emma hated waiting in line, but she loved the ride.
Emma loved meeting the characters. I have to say they were really wonderful. They took their time talking to each kid, signing thier autograph books, helping them smile for a pretty picture, and giving them a hug when they left. It was great. Emma's favorite princesses are Ariel & Belle.
Next, we rode the Tea Cups. Daddy was spinning us as fast as he could and Emma wanted to go faster. Both Daddy and I thought we were going to throw up. She loved this ride and would have stayed here all day!
When we left the ride, we saw Alice. It was great that Emma dressed like a princess because everyone treated her like a princess. They bowed when she met them and they called her princess.

Emma has been on carousels before, but Daddy showed her how to hold her arm in the air. Thanks dad!
Emma liked Its A Small World. She pointed to all of the pretty girl dolls and said, "That's Emma."
She thought Winnie the Pooh was scary, but she liked the surprise party at the end and wanted to stay for a piece of cake!
It really sucks that you can't take your stroller in line at Disney. I understand that it keeps the lines more compact, but this was the only line Emma didn't complain in. I wonder why. She is such a picky eater these days. She only ate the snacks I brought, she wouldn't eat anything we bought her there, except cotton candy and that doesn't really count as food.

We were shocked when Emma's favorite ride was Goofy's crazy roller coaster especially since she looks terrified in all of the pictures I took during the ride. Her favorite rides were this roller coaster and the tea cups.

They have you "fly" into Pixie Hallow to meet the fairies so Emma flew out. Dan had to run down the hall to catch a picture of her flying away.
We played with toys in the gift shop. Emma was so funny she lined up these ponies and lectured them. She wouldn't let anyone come near them~
It was raining when we left so we didn't take any more pictures, but we did a lot of other rides. Shockingly we stayed through the fire works. They were the best fireworks I have ever seen. Emma watched them with her ears covers and between each set she would ask, "Is is over?"
We had a great day. We drove home Thursday. We will probably wait until Georgia is old enough before we go again.

Emma's First day of Dance class

Emma tried a dance class with a friend last year and she was too scared to go in by herself. So I told her she could take dance class when she was brave enough to go in alone. A year later she told me she was brave enough to do dance class by herself. Luckily her bravery came a week before fall registration for dance classes. We found a studio in Winder called Studio One. She does tap for 1/2 hour and ballet for 1/2 hour. I think Emma's favorite part of starting dance class was getting new shoes and clothes.

Showing mommy her dance moves. Emma hates to have her hair done. Probably because she had no hair for the first three years of her life. But ballet has a rule that your hair has too be out of your face, so at least once a week she has to let me do her hair. Yea!

So, everyday that Emma has school I have to wake Georgia from her morning nap to pick her up.Its such a rare and precious moment for me to see her sleeping.
But it doesn't last long. As soon as se realizes I am in her room she sits up, like "I'm awake, I'm awake." Although clearly she is still sleepy!

Of course we take pictures on the first day of school. But Emma wasn't cooperating when we started, lots of pictures with angry faces and tears. Then she noticed some deer run across the front yard and suddenly she was happy and I got ONE smiling picture.We are ready for the first day to start!
Ready to walk into the building but waiting for mom to catch up. She was excited by this point and had run from the car to the building. Luckily there are no roads to cross!

Finally saw the 4D movie at the Aquarium. I didn't think about what 4D means, so Emma was really scared when we got squirted with water and air blew on our legs.

We drove all the way to the zoo on a nice sunny day and when we got there it was raining. Of course Emma didn't mind so we went to visit the animals.
I don't know when this happened, but she wants her picture taken at every sign.

We took Emma to her first laser show. Both Dan and I went frequently as children so it was exciting to share this with her. We left Georgia home with mama as usual. Emma loved the lights and music. Six years ago I married the love of my life. Three years after that I celebrated by giving birth to our first child. Today we kept it a little more low key.We ate at Dan's favorite place, Stone Mountain Pizza Cafe. Then we went shopping. It is great to have a day to ourselves. I love you Daddy. Fun at the mall

I tried to take the girls to play in the fountain at the mall last year, but it wasn't on because of the drought.
It was on this year. Unfortunately it was only fun for 10 minutes! And Georgia was too scared for me to even get a picture of her. But I promise she was there and she got wet.We very rarely go to the mall, so i let Emma pick something fun to do (because there are a dozen very appealing things you can pay to do there). This is her first carousel ride.
Georgia really liked the play area. But she got sick three days later, so thank you mall germs. It was a fun day, but hopefully I can avoid the mall with children for another 3 years.

I hate that you guys are here to see her open the amazing gifts you send so I am posting the pictures in attempt to make you feel connected. The furthest gift to travel is from Spokane, WA. Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Bryant. Your packages are always so fun. Mommy especially likes the themes.
This one looks like it had a rough journey.We love rain boots because she gets to jump in puddles when she wears them. And surprisingly she loves puddles!
I love this shirt. She likes that it has two layers, just like her princess PJs.
And jeans to match. Yea!
This bag came just in time for dance class. She uses it to hold all of her dance gear and takes it to class every week. No one has the same bag so she can always find her stuff. And she looks stinking cute.
You can't go wrong with art supplies for this child. She loves art in all forms. Mommy loves chalk because it usually done outside with no clean up. Now if it would just stop raining.

Emma & Georgia invited friends over to celebrate their birthday with a water party in the back yard. Of course I forgot to take pictures outside~ they played in a little pool, slip-n-slide and sprinkler. Everyone had fun and got covered in grass.I made a princess birthday cake.
We opened presents after our friends left since mommy didn't want wet in kids in the house. Georgia really liked ripping the paper off.

One of our favorite activities this summer has been going to the pool. Today Emma went to the pool with Mama.
She loves the water toys at the pool.
She also likes to climb out by herself on the ladder then...

Thanks to swimming lessons Emma has really become comfortable in the water. She practices floating on her back in the really shallow water.

Emma went to the water day story time with our friends. Thank you for taking her and the amazing pictures, Gina. I stayed home with the sleeping baby. We love Braselton library story time, they have great activities.
All morning Emma said she didn't want to be sprayed, but when the firefighters started spraying, she was the first one out there. Obviously she had a great time.

On 4th of July, we went the Sunflower Festival in Rutledge, GA. It was really fun. There were several inexpensive kid activities all close together. Tons of food and crafts and of course tons of sunflowers. But it sure was hot!

We spent 4th of July weekend at the lake house. I love Lake Oconee. It is never crowded, even on holidays! We had a great time as always.Georgia is really interested in what Daddy is doing.

Triathlon

Dan & I did the Sprint Triathlon at Calloway Gardens with Dan's company. The race was 1/4 mile swim, 10 mile bike and 2 mile run. It was a great experiance. I am doing another triathlon in October with my girl friends at Lake Lanier. I would recommend triathlons to anyone who likes to swim.

Emma's preschool celebrates the kids with summer birthdays in May. Its a nice thought and mom's like me wouldn't have it any other way, but it is confusing for 2-year-olds. Emma was devastated that she didn't get a real birthday. She cried for two days!

Ireland, Emma's cousin, had a horseback riding birthday party! Emma was so excited. She borrowed a riding helmet, thanks Emerson. And asked me every morning if it was Ireland's birthday.The kids got to brush the ponies they were riding, River helped Emma reach higher.Emma on her pony. She rode around the arena once and that was enough. Weeks of anticipation for 10 mins of fun!She loves the icing, but never eats the cake and always gets it all over her face.Emma loves her cousin! She got this bike for Christmas, but she recently figured out how to peddle in the basement, so it was time to take it outside. She tipped over on the first turn and I thought she would never get on again, but she surprised me by brushing off the dirt and getting back on. Then she took the corners more slowly!Parking the bike like the big kids so we can play at the park...Contained in her stroller since she can't walk, luckily she loves balloons

I got Georgia her first balloon at Publix today. She is used to having Emma's leftovers that have lost their helium, so when the balloon floated away she was devastated. It didn't take long for her to pull the string and get it back in her grasp! She had a blast and she squeals every time she see a balloon now!

Lately I have been letting Emma play in our back yard with Sanford while I feed Georgia or clean the kitchen. She knows she is supposed to stay where I can see her and she follows the rules well. Today she said "I want to go to the other back yard." What? Eventually I figured out she meant the front yard! So we are learning that leaving the house is called outside, the outside in front of the house is the front yard and the outside behind the house is the back yard. Who knew it was so complicated!

Our second visit to the aquarium was great. Georgia came with us and she did great riding in her stroller. I don't think she saw anything. Emma loved the sea otter this time. He was swimming in circles at the top of the water. She turned around and said, "Mom, this is cool!"

I let Emma play in the back yard while I feed Georgia and clean up the kitchen. Georgia wants to go out too, but since she can't walk she gets to stay with mom. Since the weather has been nice, I leave the door open. Georgia crawled over to the door and acted like she was going out, but she didn't want to go down the step. Instead she played peak-a-boo with Emma using the door.Hi everyone outside
